Import of welding ferrous and non-ferrous wire to the Russian Federation

Project: Import of welding ferrous and non-ferrous wire to the Russian Federation
Consignor: Italy
Consignee: Moscow, Russia
Transport: Marine, container
Characteristics of the project:

  1. Confirmation of the invoice value and accumulation of the additional documents for customs.
  2. Agreement of the documents with the importer and Italian supplier.
  3. Negotiations with the customs authorities about adjustment of Customs commodity codes (HS code).
  4. Arrangement of the cargo delivery from First Container Terminal (Saint-Petersburg) to the consignee’s warehouse.

Accumulation and preparation of documents for registration of the importer in the Operating-Analytical Department of Baltijskaja Customs and for receiving Identification Customs Number.

Specialists of the company Intersolution provided to the consignee the total range of services connected with international transactions in import starting from drawing up and reconciliation of the contract and finalizing by delivery of the goods to the customer’s warehouse.

The most labour-intensive part of this project was the preliminary check and accumulation of the necessary documentation. Before delivery the specialists of Intersolution accurately checked the drafts of the shipping documents (invoice, packing list, bill of lading, insurance policy, certificates of analysis, appendix, export declaration- EX1) for their compliance with the requirements of the customs authorities, informed the supplier about the discrepancies found and controlled for them to be corrected. Further the company specialists prepared the main set of documents for import customs processing.

The ordered goods included several types of welding wire which needed different HS codes. Import specialists of our company discussed and agreed the HS codes with the customs authorities as well as the technical description of the goods dispatched.

On the basis of the HS codes our company specialists calculated the customs payments. The customs payments must be calculated in the currency of the contract and invoice and are to be made in rubles according to the exchange rate chosen. The significant exchange rate fluctuations can lead to the underpayment of the customs duties, fees and VAT during customs clearance. That is why it is quite important to control the exchange rate fluctuations if not the customs clearance process will be slowed down. In order to avoid the above said consequences the specialists of Intersolution controlled daily the situation with the currency rates.

The importer succeeded to get the best prices for the goods. However, it is necessary to prove the objectivity of such keen prices to the Russian customs authorities. For this purpose specialists of Intersolution in cooperation with both importer and exporter collected several additional sets of documents. This permitted to avoid the correction of the customs value of the goods and the additional payments of customs duties.

After the successful customs clearance of the welding wire it was transported from the Saint-Petersburg port to the warehouse of the final consignee.
